About You

You will be a key part of our small and mighty product team who holds a high design standard in everything we ship. You’re the strategic and inventive type, one who thrives in the design process, from ideation to shipped product. You will be responsible for iterating on product features and user flows. While good design takes time, you aren’t afraid to take charge and deliver quickly through sketches and low fidelity mockups to help us make informed decisions, while having a strong visual design muscle and eye for detail. You will also play a key role in our product roadmap and will be expected to heavily contribute to the creative process as the product evolves. You’re also the type to challenge assumptions and seek out user interviews to understand how user patterns and pains will influence key feature design. You will be the second design hire at Status, working directly with the founding team and engineering team. This takes a special type of entrepreneurial mindset, one that finds ways to hit targets and goals when the “how to get there” is not abundantly clear. You are someone who wants to be part of achieving major startup milestones for the first time and love the idea of building from the ground up.

As a great designer, you understand how important customer conversations are and are not afraid to dedicate a portion of your week to observing how users interact with our product. You are constantly seeking feedback and love to drill down into the root pain and problem space before you jump to a solution mindset. You are a fantastic listener and care about the questions you ask to customers as you seek to learn more. You are a process-minded person who holds yourself accountable to goals and deadlines. You are also someone who works well with a team and can take ownership of process improvements without having to be told what to do.

What You’ll Do

- Own the end-to-end design process by designing flows, interactions, prototypes, sketches and high-fidelity visuals

- Work closely with engineering and early users to quickly iterate and implement quality and tested design

- Own the creation and development of the Status in-product visual design and branding

- Help create new design and feedback processes while improving upon existing processes

- Gain a deep understanding of customer onboarding solutions and creatively bring new design/UX direction that solves for what is lacking in other tools

What We Look For

- 3+ years relevant design experience with shipped SaaS applications and features

- Strong understanding of the product development process, from problem space through detailed UI/visual design

- Experience working with design systems 

- Strong aptitude with design tools such as, Figma 

- An outstanding portfolio showcasing a processes-driven approach to idea generation, visual design, and user interaction/flow design

- Ability to quickly translate user research/feedback into beautifully designed solutions 

- Ability to work well by yourself, not afraid to take action and learn before waiting for help

- A no ego teammate: we want you to be aggressive and confident, but we do not tolerate high ego individuals. Teamwork and the ability to take feedback and coaching is key.
